Lisbon City Tour on Sunday
The city centre was destroyed by an earthquake in 1755 but was rebuilt by the marquês de Pombal. This seagirt city of multicoloured houses and elegant parks and gardens has been reconstructed as a bustling modern metropolis. In fact, Lisbon was designated a European City of Culture in 1994. The general outlines of the city remain as they have for hundreds of years and is still a city of balconies and vistas. Some of the most striking of the latter can be seen from the miradouros, the terraces maintained by the municipality on seven of its hillsides.
For those interested, we will be offering an optional 3.5-hour tour on Sunday afternoon. This will not be an official part of the program, and those who will like to join this tour will need to register at the registration website or at the hospitality desk at the hotel.
For any questions regarding the conference, please contact Lidija Pecova (lidija@lepaf.org) +389 7838 8235 or Giora Sharf (giora1@inter.net.il)

Call for nominations for the upcoming elections of the CML Horizons Steering Committee
The CML Advocates Network is an active network of CML patient groups and presently connects 122 patient organizations in 92 countries across ALL continents.
Currently, the CML Steering Committee is composed of six CML patient advocate leaders representing the major regions of the world plus three CML Advocates Network Founders as permanent Steering Committee members. At a Steering Committee meeting held earlier this year, new guidelines and expectations were approved for the Steering Committee. The main change is that the steering committee is not only responsible for the organization of CML Horizons as it was until last year, but is now responsible for the management of the CML AN.
At the upcoming CML Horizons in Lisbon, Portugal, we will be holding elections for this newly-revised CML Steering Committee. The elected individuals will not only represent their respective regions but will also work to ensure the active involvement of their region in the many activities of the CML Advocates Network.
Specifically, this includes the following important Steering Committee activities:
• Contributing to the projects of the CML Advocates including CML Horizons, CML-CAB (Community Advisory Board)
• Actively representing the network in their region and proactively connect CML patient organisations to the global CML Advocates Network
• Agreeing to attend at least two face-to-face Steering Committee meetings per year
• Intending to participate in at least two (of approximately four) virtual teleconferences per year
• Contributing a minimum of 8 hours/month to work as a Steering Committee member
• Timely response to Steering Committee-related email communication
Please note the specific regions and terms. The terms will be discussed in more detail during the regional sessions at CML Horizons.
• North America (Term: May 2019 – May 2022)
• Central and Eastern Europe & West Asia (Term: May 2019 - May 2022)
• Middle East & Africa (Term: May 2019 – May 2021)
• Western Europe (Term: May 2019 – May 2021)
• Asia and Pacific (incl. Australia and New Zealand) (Term: May 2019 – May 2020)
• Latin America (Term: May 2019 – May 2020)
You can obtain the Nomination Form by clicking HERE. Nominations must be done by member organizations of the CML Advocates Network. Each organization may nominate only one person for a defined region. If you represent that organization, you may also nominate yourself. Interested individuals should carefully complete the attached nomination form and submit it to elections@cmladvocates.net by Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Nominees will need to be prepared to present themselves at the allocated time on Fridays Programme. All voting will occur within the Regional Meetings and the winners announced at the end of Saturday’s Programme.
We look forward to receiving your application and should you have questions about the terms or the new responsibilities please do not hesitate to contact Lidija lidija@lepaf.org or your current regional leader listed below.
