CML Educational Videos
Facilitating access to information and providing educational material to patients is key to patient advocacy groups. In 2012, a European workgroup of patient advocacy groups and CML experts started to develop and produce a series of educational videos on CML, supported by Bristol-Myers Squibb. Videos are available in several languages. Currently there are three videos available: one on managing side effects, one on therapy adherence, and one on testing & monitoring.
You can also embed these videos on your own websites, as they are hosted on YouTube!
Video 1: What you need to know about adherence to therapy
Taking medication exactly as prescribed is not always easy for many patients with chronic myeloid leukemia, also known as CML. But, it’s important. Adherence, or taking the medication as prescribed by the doctor, has a strong impact on the effectiveness of treatment. “Chronic Myeloid Leukemia: What you need to know about adherence to therapy” is a video that educates patients with CML about the importance of adherence to treatment.

Video 2: What you need to know about side effects and how to manage them
This video educates patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) that they may experience side effects from their CML treatment, and aims to help patients maintain quality of life. Usually, side effects occur at the beginning of CML-therapy and improve or gradually disappear over time. However, in some cases side effects emerge even if the patient has been on treatment for a while. Knowing this can help patients alleviate side effects. The video helps CML patients understand their side effects, speak about them with their doctor and finally manage side effects to reduce their impact on daily life.
