Call for nominations for the upcoming elections of the CML Horizons Steering Committee

At New Horizons 2013, the community elected its second global "CML Horizons Steering Committee", consisting of CML patient advocates from North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa. This Steering Committee has been instrumental to complete the transition of "New Horizons" into a community-run, multi-sponsored, independent annual meeting of patient advocates, and to make the "Leukemia Patient Advocates Foundation" a reality.

As the global annual international conference for CML patient advocacy leaders, "CML Horizons" and the previous nine "New Horizons" conferences have been instrumental in educating patient advocates, building patient groups' capacity, implementing advocacy initiatives that have had a real impact in the countries.

The two year term of the current CML Horizons Steering Committee is coming to an end at "CML Horizons 2015" in Barcelona, and hence we would like to ask the community to nominate candidates for the upcoming elections.

The CML Horizons Steering Committee consists of one elected representative from each of the six major regions:

  • Asia-Pacific
  • North America
  • Latin America
  • Middle East & Africa
  • Western Europe
  • Central and Eastern Europe & West Asia

plus the three CML Advocates Network founders as permanent committee members.

Deadline for nominations: 14 April 2015

If you want to nominate a candidate for the election of the "CML Horizons Steering Committee 2016-2017", we would like to ask your patient organisation to submit the nomination form by 14 April 2015 to

The nomination needs to state your motivation and contribution to the committee on behalf of your region, your history and vision as CML advocate, your English language skills, and whether you are willing to commit significant time for teleconferences, meetings and emails to bring the community and conference to the next level.

Every CML Advocates Network member organisation can nominate only one candidate and only for a specific region. A list of CML Advocates Member organisations can be found here:

Please look at the nomination form for further information.

Elections on 2 May 2015

The elections will be held at CML Horizons in Barcelona on 2 May 2015. All nomination sheets will be provided to all members by 26 April 2015, to give everyone sufficient time to consider their vote. In addition, every candidate will present himself/herself in the morning of 2 May 2015.

Every member organisation of the CML Advocates Network has one vote per seat at the elections. Email votes are not permitted. Only those organisations that participate in Barcelona can participate in the election.
