Member’s description

A patient support group of about 140 people, who just got recognized by the government on the 30 of January 2015 as advocates on CML. The patients have to visit the doctors once every month on a Thursday at the hospital for a review. This means every Thursday is devoted for CML at the KorleBu Teaching Hospital in Ghana.

Organizational objectives and key programs

• To arrange with the authorities (doctors) for every Thursday as a day CML patients visit the hospital for reviews.
• To get people still living with CML but using herbs and other means to come for treatment.
• To educate people on CML to avoid stigmatization. 4.Educate people to erase the myth surrounding CML and cancers.
• To advocate for better interaction with legislators and get recognition of CML and the group at the national level. This helps the drug clearing process, reduces the death rate as people would be aware and get tested before the worse happens.
