The Leukaemia Foundation stands with Australia to help cure and conquer blood cancer – with care. Together we are attacking every blood cancer, from every direction, in every way we can. We stand beside every Australian to be their voice and their someone-to-turn-to, fighting to get them access to the best care. We also accelerate research that’s delivering rapid advancements in blood cancer diagnosis and treatments. Plus, we provide services and support that empower people living with any blood cancer to live well after diagnosis.

We also accelerate research that’s delivering rapid advancements in blood cancer diagnosis and treatments. Plus, we provide services and support that empower people living with any blood cancer to live well after diagnosis. The goal is to make sure zero lives are lost to blood cancer by 2035.

People living with blood cancer, the health sector, and industries involved in the care of people with blood cancer (donors, sponsors, partners, general public and government.

Information

As the leading source of free blood cancer information and education for people living with blood cancer in Australia, we’re here every step of the way to help navigate the road ahead and help people in making informed decisions about their treatment and care.

  • We provide credible information and resources about blood cancer, treatments, clinical trials and how people can live well after treatment.
  • We help empower patients to talk to their haematologist and deal with the healthcare system.
  • We provide information on financial, practical and other government support available to people.

Treatments

We invest in innovation for all blood cancers: from advancements in diagnostics and treatments to improving life after blood cancer.

  • We work with the blood cancer community to ensure people have equitable access to best-practice treatments so more people survive blood cancer and then live well.
  • We advocate for change in the healthcare system so people can get access to the latest diagnostics, clinical trials and new drugs.
  • We accelerate research across all types of blood cancer.

Care

For over forty years, the Leukaemia Foundation has supported and cared for people living with blood cancer, their families and their carers. Our purpose is to help cure and conquer every blood cancer -with care – and this won’t change.

    • We provide people living with blood cancer, their families and carers access to supportive care, including accommodation, transport, emotional and practical support, health and wellbeing, grief support, and peer support groups.

Key programs:

  • Accommodation and practical support services – direct supply of accommodation or subsidy through the assistance program
  • Information and Education services – Diagnosis specific or living well sessions via face to face or digital channels, Newsletters, and information booklets
  • Health and Wellbeing support services – emotional support, referral to allied health, proactive measures to support quality of life
  • Grief and Bereavement services – national bereavement support and referral
  • Advocacy and policy – PBAC submission and advocacy, National Strategic Action Plan for Blood Cancer through the National Blood Cancer Taskforce
  • National Research Program – PhD scholarships, Strategic Ecosystem Research Partnership Grants, Cancer Australia PdCCRS Recipients
